I am completely devoted to Lifeline Oro Valley Animal Rescue – (LOVAR) because they are everything that an animal rescue should be. LOVAR’s deep compassion for all animals is unquestionable and their uncompromising ethics are all focused on the welfare of animals. This is a rescue group that saves dogs and cats from the terrible “E-lists” from AZ. county Animal Control ‘shelters,’ and particularly, Pinal County A.C. outside of Casa Grande, Arizona. LOVAR saves animals who’ve been abused, starved, injured, victims of dog-fighting, abandoned in the desert, or just left behind when their humans discarded them like trash. Also, LOVAR has rescued many cats who were trapped and brought to remote and isolated Pinal Co. A.C., where they were labelled ‘feral’ and put on the E-list to be killed. LOVAR has made great efforts and successfully found sanctuary for the cats who truly are feral and adopted out the cats who were not. So many people regard homeless cats as “vermin” who should be killed but LOVAR is a true rescue that shows its regard for all animals by rescuing homeless/feral cats whom most other rescues wouldn’t touch. And the same is true for all of the dogs that it rescues from E-lists, particularly from Pinal Co. A.C., which is a large county with a big population of homeless, abandoned, abused animals but with few resources to help them. LOVAR is based in Pima county, the next county over from Pinal; yet they care very much for the forgotten cats and dogs in Pinal county, and they spend the majority of their time and resources helping those animals in a different county, while simultaneously still helping animals in their own county and others. I have donated to domestic animal and wildlife rescues, adopting from rescues and taking in homeless animals for many years. But it was not until Feb. 2016 that I finally became an official foster with a rescue for the first time in my life. That rescue was LOVAR and it is because Jeanette Regan, the rescue head, is so accessible, and shares my belief in the intrinsic value of all animal life, as well as everything else I’ve mentioned. Jeanette is not only deeply compassionate, she is also extremely smart, creative, courageous, and hard-working, and these qualities are fully in evidence in the extraordinary changes she has accomplished with Pima Co. A.C. and her great efforts to do the same for the cats and dogs at Pinal Co. A.C..
