Make My Cake

I distinctly remember seeing the Make My Cake logo with the ample woman and the oversized cake and was immediately enthralled with this depiction of so many people I know which love baking and seem to always create bigger than life homemade baked goods. This acquaintance occurred 2014 at the Circle of Sisters venue in New York City. This adventurous day with friends was really fun, along with the new business discoveries was enlightening. When it was time to leave we came upon Make My Cake’s booth and simply loved the colorful display, the logo and certainly the beautiful baked creations. Unfortunately I had overspent already and held on to my money so I could return back to Connecticut on the train. But I never forgot the logo! So coincidentally this past summer when friends were visiting from Florida we were in Harlem enjoying the sites and splendid weather turning the corner and there was Make My Cake bigger than day! I excitedly screamed, told my husband to stop the car as we were rounding the corner and said, “this is the bakery that I learned of last year! ” I started giggling and clapping because the exterior was so inviting! We happily entered and it was love at first sight, the seating, antique stove, the nostalgic furnishings and my favorite logo of the ample woman with her gigantic cake signaled this was the right location. We all purchased our goodies, mine were several vanilla cupcakes with the dark fudge frosting! I declared I’d wait till I returned home before enjoying my treats. That occurred at 3:30 that morning ! The traffic was terribly tied up due to an accident! I couldn’t wait and ate half my cupcake at an hour that was much too late! But my tastebuds were dancing! Immediately I was catapulted back to my childhood in Buffalo when my dear friend mother baked cakes and pies with love, regularly. There’s no doubt that Aliyyah Baylor and her mother have taken us back down memory lane with their wonderful recipes all containing real/natural ingredients, wonderful flavors, butter, creams, fruits, spices and eggs not skimping on goodness! My favorite is the velvety-buttery fudge rich frosting on top of a perfected dense vanilla butter cake that awakens your mouth and with each morsel you realize there’s no mistaking this is homemade goodness in every bite! ” Aliyyah Ballard and her mother’s love of baking is a sweet sensation! I have revisited at least three times in the past months and each time I’ve gone I’ve made certain to take friends with me and tell others that are visiting Harlem or New York City to be sure to go to one or two locations and purchase bake goods from Make My Cake because Make My Cake will make your day! They also win a blue ribbon for the lovely customer service. I kid you not I witnessed a little girl climb up the glass encased display to get a better view and select “her” select cookies- that too sold me! Her father was embarrassed, but I understood! The ambience is welcoming and the baked confections put the Super in superb! Need me for a billboard, I’d gladly oblige!
