Archie’s Hough Bakery

Biting into an Archie’s white on white Birthday cake is like time traveling back to every birthday from my childhood! Absolutely the best!

I grew up with Hough Bakery cakes for every special occasion – birthdays, graduations, christenings, and 2 wedding cakes. I am grateful that Archie’s has saved us from the tasteless mundane or way too sugary sweet cakes offered by the chain grocery stores and big box stores. It is truly a special event to drive to Lake Shore Blvd and pick up our “prize”. God bless Archie and his staff!

Absolutely love the white cake, white frosting……had that Hough cake for my First Communion, my wedding (4 tiers for under $50 in 1965 – I even showed the receipt to Archie), my kid’s Baptisms, First Communions, Graduations – was so upset when Hough closed as were so many of my friends and family. One morning, very early, I heard Archie being interviewed on the radio and waited for him to open – that started my trips from the west side to pick up pre-ordered cakes, often for other people as well as my own. Sometimes I was lucky and there would be extra cupcakes, cookies or pieces of cake in the display case which would be eaten on the ride home – also love the petit fours and often order them by the dozen and freeze them just for when I need a special treat – the cake and butter cookies can also be frozen and they are bakery fresh when defrosted. Archie, his wife, his daughter (Sandy) are all so very nice to deal with – long live Archie’s Lakeshore Bakery!

Hough Bakeries has come back to life again through ‘Archie’s Bakery’. Yep, ANYTHING you loved about Hough you can duplicate at Archie’s. If it weren’t for the name…,.you would NEVER know the difference. Got my big 7-0 birthday cake there last year; it was BEYOND awesome. Took me back to a wonderful place I hadn’t been since Hough closed,. KUDOS to you Archie and staff. You DESERVE to win this award more than anyone. You ROCK !!!

I am a fan because the products that this bakery produces is the best I ever had. I grew up eat cake from this bakery and can truly say, with 100% honesty, that there is no other bakery like it. It is my all time favorite place to get baked goods. From cakes to cookies to the rare dinner rolls, it is all worth the trip.

Archie’s Bakery is the best best best. I am a life long fan of Hough Bakery and Archies brought back all my childhood memories and more. Archies Hough cakes are to die for and I get one as often as I am able. I live in Michigan (4 hours away) and make the drive to Archie’s, get my cake fix and then turn around and drive back home. They are awesome!

Hough Bakery was a family tradition with birthday cakes. We have had several of Archie’s cakes and it took me back to my childhood – beautiful decorations and melt-in-your-mouth cake and buttercream frosting.

Archie’s is the only bakery that carries on the Hough Bakery traditions. Hough was the number one bakery across greater Cleveland and customers were devastated when it closed. But, Archie makes the cakes, pies cookies, breads with the same recipes as Hough. Growing up, I always had a Hough Bakery cake for my birthday until they went out of business; it’s great that Archie has continued the “tradition”. My sister’s birthday is coming up in a few weeks and she has already informed me that she wants a “Hough” cake.

I had them do my wedding cake. It was very beautiful but most importantly it was delicious. My guest wanted more. Personally I have never been to a wedding and people actually are the cake. I managed to taste a little piece and I realized why everyone wanted more. I the cake was moist and not too sweet. I tell everyone if you’re getting married and want a beautiful and great tasting cake you have to order it from Archie’s Bakery!!!!

The cakes rolls, pies, and any baked goods are always fresh, not frozen. The quality and craftsmanship incorporated into each and every cake design is worth the 10 hr drive from nc, or 3 from MI. The customer service is top notch and willing to do almost anything to make a customer happy. The Hungarian delights are my favorite and I look forward to their supreme goodness ever year I travel back. Archie Garner and his daughter, Sandy are the hardest working people I know. I am greeted as family, not a customer. It’s refreshing and a great reason to buy more yumminess, year after year.
