Sorry. Absolutely NOT a fan. some years ago -my first and only time at Creekside– i saw “Dr” Elias to remove a slightly embedded nail from my cat’s paw (just the tip was poking in and I was afraid I’d hurt her trying to trim it myself- regular vet was booked up that day). My cat is fear aggressive. She will try to run away and if she can’t she will fight. I explained this to the “doctor” and asked for a muzzle. I muzzled my baby myself. For some reason, “Dr” Elias took her from the exam room (via her carrier) and to a back room. I’ve never had a vet take a cat to another room to trim nails. Less than five minutes later, a tech runs in with my cat in her carrier, muzzle not on her and no where in sight, alleging “Dr” elias had been bitten.
My cat was 17 years old, indoor ONLY, arthritic, had all her shots (she had just got the 3 year booster not even a full year ago when this took place) and had her yearly checkups and bloodwork. I cherished my baby.
Her muzzle was removed. For what reason i know not. And because of that animal control took my cat, that very Friday shortly after the botched appointment. I had our regular vet call. I had all her paperwork and tags in my hand to show the officer. I begged to speak to a supervisor. The officer didn’t care. Wouldn’t look at my paperwork, didn’t care what the vet said, claimed he couldn’t contact his supervisor. “Give me the cat, or i WILL call the police, you’ll be arrested and your door knocked in so i can get the cat- is that what you want?”
Our saving grace? My dad knew one of the county commissioners, called him Saturday evening and the commissioner was incensed that this had happened (after all, city ordinance allows for cats/dogs with documentation to be quarantined at home- which is what ended up happening). I don’t know what he said to the director of animal control, but we got a call early Sunday that someone would be there to let me in so I could bring my baby home.
For the record, once i got over the shock Friday and cried myself out, Saturday morning I went to WRAL 5 on Your Side and filed out a complaint form. That afternoon a reporter called me, floored by what had happened and prepared to cover my story about how Creekside and animal control treated me. Imagine that! All the submissions they get, and I got a called mere hours after submitting my complaint, that’s how outrageous this situation was. The only reason that did not happen was due to my family wanting to keep the peace until they could get a hold of the commissioner.
NONE of this would have happened were it not for “Dr” Elias. Again, muzzles dont just fall off and my cat didn’t reach back there with her non-existent thumbs and unbuckle it. If I knew then what i know now, I would’ve filed a complaint to the NCVMB against Dr Elias for gross negligence or something along those lines. She never even had the decency to apologize.

I have two cats and a rescued dog that are taken care of by Creekside Animal Hospital. I would never consider taking them anywhere else. Most caring staff and vets on the planet.

Creekside Animal Hospital is the best business that\’s ever happened to the Roanoke Rapids area! Dr Cindy Elias is so loving and compassionate to everyone, fur babies and fur babies parents. The staff there is absolutely amazing and can put all your fears to rest about your pet and can answer all of your questions. If you do have a question and they don\’t know the answer, they\’ll work on it till they find it and will get right back in touch with you. If you\’re not a client there, you should be. There\’s NO BETTER PLACE. I love you all.
