Donovan’s Bennington

I have always been told Ryan’s was not the place to hang out. When Ryan’s closed and “Donny’s” as my friends call it opened, we became great friends with all three bar tenders and have a blast everytime we go. Open mic on Thurs is always a hit and a time to catch up with my friends. Generally my two guy pals and I end up closing the bar and hang with the managers around 2 or 3am in the morning. Great food, homemade chimichangas from Jason’s mom and crispy chicken fried green beans and fries. Def a favorite hang out considering our other choices in Bennington.

I will start off with admitting that I am not necessarily a bar person. I don’t drink much if I can help it and usually feel really out of place due to my social awkwardness at such places. With that being said-I feel so comfortable going into Donovans thanks to the genuine warmth&kindness that Jason and Maggie(the lovely duo who run the place)have an abundance of in their possession. They are always willing to take a moment and have a conversation with me even though they know darn well that I am not a big spender at their establishment. And it helps that the place seems to draw folks who are just looking to have a nice time and be civil to one another. Also they have a kickass open mic every Thursday night that helps local talent show off their skills and they do other great music events and even comedy shows that I always look forward to going to. Anyways it’s an amazing place to have here in Bennington. Go see for yourself!

Donovan’s has been excellent since it reopened. Maggie, Jason, and the rest of the crew are extremely hospitable and make everyone feel welcome. The bar is clean and the atmosphere is great. I love that they have live music and various activity nights plus pool and darts. It’s my favorite spot in Bennington! I would recommend it to anyone.

Donovan\’s is the perfect size for making you feel at home and the bartender Maggie always takes such good care of me!!
