If I could give 0 stars I would I visited Tara Weeks in December for bayalage and a haircut. I sat with her and discussed I wanted blonde highlights with my dark hair and showed pictures. I noted I have used black box dye in the past and she told me my hair would not get as light as I wanted in one trip but I could come back in a few weeks and go lighter if I wanted. She showed me some pictures from her Instagram of what it would look like that day. I asked her if it would be brassy and she said no and that I would be very happy with the color. I trusted her and we moved forward. 7 hours later (and nearly 2 hours after closing) we were done. While blow drying my hair (mind you, they wouldn’t let me see it during the entire 7 hours) she quickly turned from come back in a few weeks to that I needed to come back the same week, as soon as possible. I agreed to come back in 3 days. Finally I was turned around to see my hair. The lights were nearly all off (as it was night time and well past closing) I could tell me hair color wasn’t what we discussed it would look like that day, but it was dark and I hadn’t eaten in 7 hours so I quickly paid and left. The bill came to nearly double what I was quoted on my booking. I understand that some things take more work and money, but I’ve never not had this discussed during consultation. I then asked the assistant (as Tara had left) if there was an additional charge for the next visit this week. She told me it would be another $200 (making my bill 3x what I was told) This however wasn’t the real issue. When I got home and in the light I realized my hair was a brassy shade of ORANGE!!! I cried, a lot. It was just before Christmas, we had family pictures and events coming up. I slept on it and decided to look at it fresh in the morning. That morning I had an even bigger problem. My hair began falling out in chunks and snapping off at the slightest touch. I couldn’t believe it and even more so that my stylist wanted to further bleach it in 3 days! I immediately reached out the salon via email. After a few days I received an email back and phone call. I called back and emailed back and the salon told me Tara was an independent contractor and I had to deal with Tara as it basically wasn’t their problem. I attempted to work with Tara and the only resolution I was offered was to have her try and fix it. No way!! She gave me orange destroyed hair once. Since then I’ve been told by the salon via email that damage and brassy is expected with what I wanted. I’m not sure why I wasn’t warned that my hair would be severely damaged if this is something that they knew would happen. I feel as though future customers should know that 1. If there is a problem, good luck getting a resolution. 2. Apparently damage is ok to happen. I’m shocked I wasn’t told before beginning that my hair would look terrible when I left and that it would be so damaged I cannot blow dry, straighten or curl it. I will be posting photos of the severe damage and orange color and correspondence from the salon on @IGotEduced on Instagram for anyone that wants to see what was done to my hair and the lack of help from the salon since I can’t post photos here. I honestly did not want to share my story (it’s embarrassing) but no one was willing to help me. I just wanted my money back since my hair is so badly destroyed. I have had to spend several hundred dollars in conditioning treatments to try and save it and it is still breaking off mid shaft daily. I hope no one else has to go through this!!
