I booked Hannah back in April to do hair and makeup for my wedding in August in which Hannah agreed. I then scheduled a trim and hilites to “try” her out, the cut and color was ok it was a basic one color hilites and then she toned it down, it was simple and easy. Four weeks before my wedding I get a text from Hannah stating there was a family thing that she wanted to attend so she will be unable to do my wedding on August 20th. To be honest when I heard about this, I was extremely disappointed. I am getting married in four weeks and the make up artist that I booked months in advance just flaked on me. Hannah did try to book me with her friend, but I felt that I was just being passed around and not once did she try to call me to talk to me about it, instead it was a text cancellation only. But since I am a professional and I understand that things do come up, I got over it.
Fast forward one week before my wedding, since Hannah was the last person that did my hilites I figured I would just book with her for retouch. I asked for a date next week anytime at all and I get a text back that reads “Hey girl. I am booked up. I am so sorry.” She did not even offer any other time or date which is just odd to me.
I was warned about her by other professional make up artist that I know of, but I did not listen. I would normally let these things go, but every interaction that I had with her was just downright unprofessional. She even talked about how her clients are all some type of crazy and she laughed at how they keep requesting a certain style and that they will never look like what they asked for. This type of conversation is not what I want to hear when I am sitting In your chair as one of your client.
I am giving her 2 star because I am extremely disappointed in her lack of maturity and customer service skill. Anchorage is a very small town and if you conduct your business in this matter it will eventually catch up to you. You might be talented, but talent alone is not enough if you don’t stay grounded and humble. Please do consider the ripples that you create from the choices that you make and how it affects your clients who follows you. These clients should be treated with respect the same way they respect you by choosing to stay with you.
