Amazed by the dedication and compassion the Humane Society of Central Texas has for all of the animals that come into the shelter daily! We adopted a “senior” heart worm positive dog in June 2016 after fostering her and felt impressed by the level of care given to the dogs in the foster program. We have also fostered cats with medical issues over the past several months and can’t say enough good things about the staff vet, vet tech and foster coordinator who try so hard to save as many animals as possible despite very limited resources. The shelter staff and volunteers also work daily exercising, bathing, playing with and training the dogs which often is these animals’ first ever experience of human kindness. The shelter’s foster program which relies on volunteers gives many cats and dogs a second chance at a good life … and so many staff members also foster dogs and cats at home in addition to working at the shelter. Despite a very high daily intake of unwanted dogs and cats, the shelter staff keep trying to find these animals loving forever families. Humane Society of Central Texas deserves 5 stars!
