My boyfriend and I recently adopted a puppy named Rigatoni and he’s now 8 months old. Riggs is our very first dog, so the two of us were very much learning as we went along. We noticed a few months into having him that he wasn’t listening to many of our commands, would run rampant (and on people) when company came, and would often show his teeth and growl, especially towards me. Riggs bit me hard and all the time and I was sick of it. I had problems trying to discipline Riggs and heard the gamut of suggestions (from friends and other trainers) on how to fix this- many people saying “he’ll grow out of it he’s a puppy,” but that’s not what I wanted life with this puppy to be like. I came to JMK9 training because not only do I know Joel personally, but I also saw videos of the work they were doing with other dogs that had similar issues. After talking with Joel, a week or two later he came to my house to meet Rigatoni and immediately noticed the issues we faced with him. Joel basically said, Rigatoni runs the house! We left Riggs with Joel (and his dog Vana) for a week. When we dropped him off he was terrified of Vana and lacking confidence. When we picked him up, he was such a confident puppy and best friends with Vana, who is much, MUCH bigger than he is. He hasn’t showed his teeth to me once and while sometimes he’s still excited when company comes over, he listens to us and is respectful. He’s also much better on a leash and is a totally different dog around other dogs. Justin has also worked with us on obedience and how we handle ourselves with Rigatoni. We still have a few classes left to go. We would definitely recommend JMK9 training to anyone who is looking to have a better bond with their dog and understand them better, even if they’re not having many behavioral issues like we did. They have a great team and friendly group of dogs to train with.

The guys at this place really know their stuff. Dedicated and hardworking. They are creative and have tons of experience training dogs. Definitely go with them!

Justin and Joel have really helped me get my dog under control and understand why he was behaving the way he did. He walks so much better, doesn’t counter surf anymore and is crate trained now. We are continuing our training with them and making a lot of progress. I have had such a good experience I reccomend them all the time.
