Mary’s Milk Bar

Mary’s is by far the best ice cream in Edinburgh (and I’ve tried a few!) Her flavours are unique,quirky and bold and she is constantly looking for ways to create new flavours with seasonal foods and drinks. I usually ask for a sample of her more interesting flavours and she’s won me over with ice creams containing flavours I don’t usually like! The decor of the shop is fantastic and Mary and her team are always so friendly and happy to chat about the daily flavours. I’ve taken a lot of friends there and it’s the highlight of their visit! Judging by the queues outside the shop, I’m sure a lot of tourists would agree! This is proper gelato of the highest quality…living just around the corner requires will power not to go every day for my Mary’s fix!

Best ice cream place ever. The ice cream is just something else. I endeavour to make a stop at Mary’s at least once a month to keep my sanity. Addictive!

Mary’s is hands-down the best ice cream place I have ever been to. Everything from the decor, to the location, to the fresh chocolate, to the flavors upon flavors upon flavors that frequently defy imagination, but never fail to delight the palate. Mary is a true master of the craft, and aside from bringing excellent ice cream into my life, she has, in doing so, also made me aware of what a craft ice cream making is and can be in the hands of a master. In short, if you want a flavor you’ve never had before, will never find anywhere else, and will instantly love, come to Mary’s.

Mary’s is not only my favorite ice cream in the world, it truly might be one of my favorite PLACES in the world. I have recently moved away from Edinburgh, and Mary’s is the place I miss the most. Her ice cream is perfect, and somehow always the perfect softness. Her flavors are unique and always taste so fresh. I used to be so excited to go into Mary’s and see her daily offerings!

Mary’s milk bar is absolutely fabulous! they make such different flavours of ice cream and sorbet that you don’t find in other ice cream shops! they inspire me to try and remake third flavours at home such as the apricot and rose sorbet! absolutely delicious! or chocolate and lavender! I love how they put teas and even goats cheese into their flavours also! love the hot chocolate floats too!!
