Sassy Paws Angel Rescue

Unfortunately, this rescue gave us a dog that had medical issues (mega-esophagus) and was incredibly dishonest about the dog’s behavior. Either they don’t really take time to know their dogs (you can’t really miss a dog that regurgitates every time they eat or drink…can you?!) or they were just blatantly dishonest — I don’t know which, but it’s really unfortunate. The rescue gave permission to re-home her into a household that was child-free (due to nipping, assertively mouthing and bullying our child and dog) and promised to assist us in finding a healthy dog that would be more suitable for our household (which we expect a rescue dog to have issues – we do’t expect a “perfect dog” by any means…but to willingly mislead on aggression and behavior is not doing the family nor the dog any justice). Later, I found out (through mutual a friend who is in the rescue community) the owner perused my social media and decided to not work with me because we have vastly different political/religious/social beliefs! Absolutely flabbergasting and petty. Although the owner had promised to continue working with us to find a healthy dog (just three weeks ago we spoke about it!) and our application was previosusly approved…she decided to stop because of silliness. We’ve been expecting to work with this rescue again (due to multiple messages between the owner and myself) and have put off pursuing a dog through any other rescue because we wanted to give this rescue another chance – because we really liked the owner, ironically! Sadly, the owner decided to rescind their promise to help add a new family member over a difference in personal beliefs. When I asked about why she changed her mind all of a sudden she refused to answer but instead banned me from her Facebook page (which sounds like she knew she was guilty of unfavorable treatment and dishonest business ethics and wanted to prevent me from sharing my experience with others). Don’t have different beliefs or expect honesty about the dog’s health/behavior if you want to do business with this “company.”
