Albuquerque has slowly been gaining a reputation as a bastion of food innovation. I have been dining in some of Albuquerque’s best-kept secrets for many years now, and I must say it’s quite an experience. This so-called food revolution has seen many of the country’s best new food trucks sprouting up. And for those of you searching for a culinary experience like no other, look no further than Street Food Sensations or just “Sensations” as the owner likes to be known.
Nestled amid the best microbrews in Albuquerque, is the brainchild of Chef Lorenzo Garcia and his years of experience in fine dining. Chef Garcia’s goal is simple–bring the fine dining quality of food to all patrons in an affordable price. While there are plenty of staple items on Sensations food truck, each day brings a seasonal menu item with the freshest quality ingredients. You might try the pulled pork nachos if available on the menu or the Greek lamb sliders.
I started with Sensation’s famous parmesan cilantro truffle fries (which they hand cut themselves), and are truly remarkable with their specialty dipping sauce to accompany. After I tried the slow- roasted beer-braised pulled pork sandwich, perfectly cooked pork served on a French baguette with pickled slaw. The portions are so generous that you could easily share. The flavor of the slaw balanced the richness of the sinfully tender pork. The dish was executed perfectly and I highly recommend as one of my favorites.
Though I would love to be selfish and keep Street Food Sensations all to myself, the work of Chef Garcia is too good to stay hidden for long.
