I am a fan of the Unicoi County Animal Shelter in Erwin, TN because the staff is passionate about saving animals, educating the public about responsible pet ownership, and contributing to their community. In addition to managing the operation of the shelter, the director is responsible for fund raising to help with special projects and to supplement their budget. They are dedicated and very caring, they offer help, options, and solutions to owners in need. They try to save every animal possible by working with animal rescues in other areas to find homes for them. The director and her staff have spent countless hours painting and making other renovations as their small budget will allow, to improve the appearance and condition of the shelter for the animals and visitors. They are responsible, trustworthy, dependable, knowledgeable, and they truly try to make a differencein the lives of the animals and the community. They are humble and grateful for every donation they receive and for the few volunteers who help them.
